NABA RULES AND REGULATIONS

Use of alcohol and tobacco is not allowed on any Bend LaPine School District property.
Any person or team violating the tobacco and alcohol policy on Bend LaPine School District facilities will be immediately suspended from the league.

Here are some rules and guidelines in the NABA to follow, some that differ from High School Rules:

-“Each team is required to provide two brand new baseballs per game to the home plate umpire”

-“…all players must wear some type of baseball pants and shoes. No shorts, cutoffs, sweat pants, workout pants, or jeans are allowed.”

-all games will be 7 innings with no time limitations, save darkness and field restrictions

-“canceled games are taken off the schedule because a team has dropped out of the league or a team has declared it is unable to field a team for a game and is forfeiting it.” A 24, 8, 4 (?) hour notice must be given in order for a game to be canceled, otherwise it is considered a forfeiture (see below)

-“A forfeited game occurs when one team is unable to field enough players (8) at game time. There is a 15 minute grace period with a run being accessed at game time.” Umpires will be paid in full for all forfeitures

-A discretional 2 minutes (or five pitches) will be allowed between innings for warm-ups in order to keep games moving at a respectable pace (Mike, I'm going to call Denver on this one)

-“Each team is required to provide a lineup card to the home plate umpire and the opposing manager before the start of the game.”

-Up to “Three players per team per game may have another player run for them… The courtesy runner will always be the last recorded out.” This is an option and must be declared on the lineup card before the game (NR). Such player must be replaced before the next pitch at whichever base he ends up on that play

-“A team may elect, for the entire game, to bat ANY NUMBER OF PLAYERS, however, it must finish the game with the same number of batters it started with. If a team is unable … it is a forfeit.” However, “If a team is unable to continue to bat the original number of hitters that began the game due to the injury of a player, then in order to prevent a forfeit a previously used player not currently in the batting order may take the injured players place in the order.” If they have no other players, then the batter removed from the game is considered out.

-“A starter in the batting order may be removed and a substitute may bat in that players place at an point during a game so long as the starter has had one plate appearance. The starter may return to bat again, but only in the original spot in the batting order, and only after the replacement has had at least one plate appearance. The substitute may not bat again once removed from the batting order. …only the starter may re-enter …

-“A pitcher may leave the mound for another position on the field or on the bench but may return only once to their position as pitcher.

-“A runner trying to advance to a base must AVOID DELIBERATE CONTACT”

-“If the field is unplayable, both umpires will make the decision at that time, not the managers.

-Umpires will be paid once a month at $40 per game, $60 in the occurrence of officiating the game by themselves ($40 for a by yourself forfeited game)

-For a player to be eligible for the Playoffs he must be a "Full Fee Player" and play in at least 5 regular season games.

-If a team forfeits a game for any reason, that team will be assessed a fine of $65 payable to the League President prior that teams next game.
